Local merchant discovery and privileges platform Crownit has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from FreeCharge founders Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon, Freshdesk founder Girish Mathrubootham, and ex-Snapdeal CPO Anand Chandrasekaran.
Crownit, an online to offline (O2O) marketing platform connecting consumers and merchants, was launched in July 2014. Present in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, among other cities, it offers users cashback at local merchants.
The average ticket size of each transaction is around Rs 1,200 and the average age of the app’s users is between 22 and 35.

Merchant discovery and cashback app Crown-it has announced a strategic partnership with hotel booking app OYO Rooms which will allow its customers to book around 500 hotels on OYO Rooms with cashbacks offered by Crown-it.
According to this partnership, OYO Rooms’ hotels will be added under the ‘Hotels’ category on Crown-it. Users can book discounted hotels in over 30 cities in India such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Udaipur, Goa among others. Crown-it adds a gamification module letting users collect points on every purchase made on the app, and these points can then be used to make other purchases such as movie ticket booking, online shopping and so on.Read full story
